Tom Pope serves as the CEO of Tom Pope Media (TPM), a multi-media company.

 

From 2005 to 2016, Tom Pope served as Director of the Audio-Visual Department of a megachurch, the First Baptist Church of Glenarden located in suburban Maryland near Washington, DC. The FBCG AV Department has five divisions; Audio, Video, AV Services, Production and Editing.

 

Major responsibilities;

 

1.     Direct the workflow of 13 staff members and over 150 volunteers and contractors.

2.     Chief Editor of FBCG News & copy and responsible for producing FBCG’s Radio Broadcasts, Sunday Services, Bible Study, Web Stream, 24/7 Monitors and technical production of all major events such as concerts featuring major artists and major plays involving a high degree of audio, lighting and complex video production.

3.     Place advertising buys for Radio & TV in addition to developing associated copy and audio-visual concepts.

4.     Oversee the preventive maintenance of all AV equipment on FBCG’s various campuses.

 

Background;

1.     Veteran broadcaster (TV & Radio) with over 56 years of solid on-air experience. My career spans service as CEO of two national Urban Adult Radio Networks specializing in scheduled newscasts and syndicated programming.

2.     I began my broadcast career at the age of 11 serving as a copy boy and evolved into an on-air announcer working in various radio formats across the country. I’m a product of The Ohio State University and majored in Telecommunications & Broadcast Journalism.

1.     Media Relations Specialist/Strategist whose list of clients included Rosa Parks; Myrlie Evers-Evers (NAACP Board of Directors); Dr. C. Delores Tucker; Dr. Betty Shabazz; Former Mayors of the District of Columbia Sharon Pratt Kelly and Marion S. Barry; the city of Detroit, Michigan; Democratic National Committee; the D.C. Amory Board (Armory and RFK Stadium) and Pepco.    

2.     In Washington, DC, I have also worked as a writer/editor on the Middle East, Africa, and National Desks for the Voice of America U.S. government radio network.

a.     Other experience in the DC area includes being an on-air personality at various religious radio stations and News Director for Urban Adult Powerhouse, WHUR-FM radio.

b.     In addition, I am a television director having produced numerous national TV specials, commercials and political ads for television and radio.
